Since Dr. Shavelson is academically oriented and considered an expert diagnostician and practitioner (see curriculum vitae), there are 160 or more health care professionals (MD's. PT's, DPM's and Visiting Nurses) who call upon him for Consultation of their patients. In addition, patient referrals of difficult cases as well as second opinions on foot surgery and failed care of foot problems usually need consultation.
After a review of systems including circulation, neurology and Functional Foot TypingTM, an evaluation of the chief complaint(s) produces a diagnosis and treatment plan that is fully explained to the patient and then implemented if approved. A consultation letter is generated to referring physicians and other health care professionals.
